Well, it has been a long time since I’ve posted anything.  In large part that had to due with it being summer.  I have to say it was hard for me to actually sit in front of a computer and write when the sun was shining and the warm weather was calling my name.  That is why I wanted to devote this post to the Best 3…Things about Summer!

No matter where you are in the world, the fact that summer has a power over people.  A way to make us feel better.  I don’t know whether it is the weather (and all the warm days and nights), the longer days (that is always a bonus) or could it be the fact that we are able to get away from our day to day lives and take vacations or just extra long weekends.

So, here are the Best 3…Things about Summer!

1.  BBQ

2.  Just Being Outdoors

3.  Sandals

Yes, BBQ is my number one choice as the best thing of summer.   For me, I don’t think I turned on my oven all summer.  All that meal planning that needs to take place during the year – out the door when summetime arrives.  I always know what I’m having for dinner – BBQ!  It’s great, easy and tastes so amazing.  Aaaahhhh my mouth is watering as I write this.

My second choice is the ability to just be outdoors.  The warm weather allows you to do so much things outside and that is what summer is meant for.  Road trips, camping, lounging on the beach, going for a swim and whatever else you like to do.  That is why it is my number two choice.

My last choice could have easily been number one.  Summer and sandals go together like salt and pepper.  Being able to always wear them, never having your feet confined to shoes and sox, getting pedicures…thanks to summer for the sandal!  Whatever preference of sandal you have (and yes, as many other women, I have a large amount of sandals that are in my closet and I’m not going to feel guilty because I wear them all!)

It has been a while since I’ve had a new post.  Life has been a little crazy and my mind just wasn’t into my blog.  However, I am back and have a plethra of new topics that I can’t wait to share.  One topic in particular is the exciting new movies that I am so excited to see.  Let’s face it, I have been a little disappointed in some of the movies that have been coming out lately and haven’t been not that excited to go to the movies (except The Avengers – really enjoyed that movie) and spend a lot of money.  That feeling has changed lately because I caught a few new movie trailers that have made me soooo excited.

So, here are the Best 3…Movies (that I’m  excited to see):

1.  Anna Karenina

2.  The Bourne Legacy

3.  Total Recall

Anna Karenina has been made into a few movies before but not like the one that will  be coming out and starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson.  I love this book.  It has everything – drama, romance/epic love, sadness/depression, tragedy and so much more.  The minute that I saw the trailer – I was hooked.  It just looks grand and just what a period piece should be (did I mention that I love any period piece!!!  They are my favourite movie) and combined with this book, I just know it will be magical and spectacular.

The second best movie that I am looking forward to is the new installment of The Bourne Legacy.  Since I really enjoyed the first set and since I have such a crush on Jeremy Renner (just look at his amazing arms) – I’m excited for him to take on this role.  I love this type of action film and I love that Rachel Weisz.  They will be the best coupling!

My last movie is Total Recall.  I have seen the original but I am totally interested in the remake/update version starring my favorite actor Colin Farrell (honestly he is another gorgeous actor who I have a crush on…I think its because he is Irish).  Anyway, it looks awesome and just jammed packed with action and will be worth the movie ticket (and popcorn price) to see it.

Continuing with the recent post on my blog, I want to explore who I believe would be the best 3 actresses to play the character of Anastasia Steele.  I should say that I have been getting a lot of views on the Fifty Shades of Grey topics so this is a good indication that I am not the only one out there that is really excited for this movie to come out.

I have though long and hard about the choices that I have included.  There is something about all these actresses that embody the character and that I think could do a really good job.  I just hope that these actresses are open (i.e. nudity) because this is a role that cannot be PG – that would just not work and I don’t think people will tune in.  This is also a role that can make a career or break it.

So, here are my Best 3…Actresses to Play Anastasia Steele (from Fifty Shades of Grey):

1.  Alexis Bledel

2.  Allison Williams

3. Amanda Seyfried

My first choice is Alexis Bledel because she has the look, the eyes and that ability to bring out the innocence of the character.  I think that she is a good enough actress that she would be able to deliver a great performance and really make the character come alive.  She would be amazing.  Even though she is thirty  – I think that she could easily portray a 21 year old  (my only worry is whether she would agree to any nudity – if it was a requirement – that is also a worry with all the actresses that I picked – although I think that if they had done the research on the character, they would agree).

My second choice might be different for some.  Allison Williams is the daughter of NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams.  She currently is on HBO’s Girls.  I don’t know much about her yet she fits the look that I see for Anastasia.  She is relatively new at acting and this would be a career making role.  I just don’t know if she would take it specifically because of who her father is (hopefully that wouldn’t be an issue…but I don’t know her and I don’t know her family).  I like the idea of a new actress taking the role.

As for my last choice, I think Amanda Seyfried (with her hair dyed brown) could really pull off this character.  She is a great actress and I know if she was cast, she would do an amazing job.

All I can say is, I feel really bad for the people casting the movie…this is going to be such as hard choice.

I have been thinking about this post for awhile.  Really since I wrote the post on the best 3 reasons to read Fifty Shades of Grey.   From all the buzz around Hollywood, there are a lot of people who have a big interest in playing this character.  I know that Universal Pictures and Focus Features were the successful studios that secured the rights to the film version of the book.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features now have one of the most difficult jobs to be performed – casting Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.  I am sure this is kind of like how it was to find Bella and Edward from Twilight.   I do not envy the job of the casting agents – that will be hell and they are probably going to get some form of negative press for whoever they pick (because we all know you can’t please everyone).  However, I did want to add my own opinion as to who should be on that list (and I really want to hear from others also!!!).  Since I am going to be one of those people that will definitely be checking out the movie, I thought that it would be appropriate.

So, here are the Best 3…Actors to Play Christian Grey (from Fifty Shades of Grey):

1.  Alex Pettyfer

2Alexander Skarsgard

 3. Henry Cavill

I have to say that I thought long and hard about this (because this casting will determine whether I actually go and see the movie) and Alex Pettyfer is at the top of my list.  Not only is he the one that I can picture immediately as Christian Grey, the others are far behind him.  He is younger than Christian Grey but there is something about him that exudes the characteristics of Grey and all that he is.  Plus he has the looks down and I can definitely picture him with no shirt on…so I am Team Alex!  I know that he doesn’t have the best reputation but with landing a role like this hopefully he would understand how lucky he is and all the doors that this role will open!

My second choice is someone that is a little older (because he is in his 30s) but Alexander Skarsgard still has the looks and the talent to pull off the character.  He also has a way of really getting into character and making you believe in who he is portraying.  Plus, Alexander looks amazing without a shirt and without anything on – plus he is the one actor who has shown a lot of skin (on True Blood) and doesn’t seem to shy away from it if that is what the role calls for.

My last choice was even a surprise to me but the more I thought about it, the more I could picture Henry Cavill as Christian Grey.  Plus after the Immortals, I know that he looks great without a shirt on and those eyes just draw you in.  There would have to be a change in the hair color but with Hollywood movie magic that shouldn’t be a problem.

Who do you think should be cast as Christian Grey?  I really want to know what others are thinking out there – so leave comments!

I haven’t talked a lot about this show in my other posts but it is one of those crazy and amazing shows that I love to tune in to.  As an avid book lover, I have read all The Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris – which as many people know provide the basis and characters for True Blood.  From the very first book I read, I was hooked.  I loved the storyline and the characters.  I especially liked how the books progressed with certain characters.   I will not  say anymore about that because I don’t want to spoil the books for people – they should be read.  When True Blood first came out, it was my awesome big sister that told me about it…the two of us have a habit of sharing all the shows that we think the other would like…she told me about Legend of the Seeker (which I absolutely love now – many people might not be familiar with it – another show based on a book series by Terry Goodkind – which unfortunately only had two seasons but epic characters – Richard and Kahlan!!!).  I, on the other hand, introduced my sister to Sons of Anarchy – which she now watched and loves.  So, I took my big sister’s advice and watched True Blood.Well, I was hooked.  Although not totally like the books (which was to be expected) – the writers have done a good show of integrated some of the core aspects in.  Some storylines I could do without but understand why they need to be in there.  From all the seasons, season 4 was the best for me (you will understand why by the best 3 provided) but I am excited for Season 5 and that is why I wanted to dedicate a post to True Blood.

So, here are the Best 3…Reasons Why I Can’t Wait for a New Season of True Blood:

1.  Eric, Eric, Eric and Eric

2.  Russel Edgington returning

3. Sookie‘s love life

Eric Northman

Eric Northman (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Ok.  I am going to say it…I am Team Eric.  I have been from the very start and let me say, Alexander Skarsgard plays Eric Northman perfectly.  I can’t picture any one else in the role.  He is just great.  He is one of the main reasons I continue to watch True Blood, plus I love his character.  Since I don’t want to spoil anything for other people who may not have watched the show…let’s just say, Eric and Sookie are just meant to be…Again, I want to say it…I am Team Eric.

I am just so excited to see how Season 5 will progress for Eric and Sookie…there are feelings there that cannot be denied…and I think are a lot stronger than with the other guy (Bill).

If you have not seen the trailers for Season 5, I have added it.  Russell Edgington is back…and I don’t think he is happy – so that will definitely make for an interesting season.

True Blood Season 5 Trailer #1

True Blood Season 5 Trailer #2

Sookie’s love life is my last best 3 pick because as you can tell from my first pick, I want her with Eric and I would like to see more scenes of them together.  They have chemistry and she is able to love both the good and bad of Eric.  Something needs to be done this season where Sookie’s love life either gets better (with Eric) or with no one at all.

This is a post that I have been wanting to do for some time.  I waited this long because I really wanted to get a sense of what was out there.  I should say that every blog that I have looked at and been following are great.  So much diverse ideas, lives and general interest out there.  If there are people who are not out there blogging…they should be.  I also find it an awesome form of therapy – just getting my ideas down, writing about the things that I like best…it liberating and I’m glad that I started (because now I know I will not stop).  Also blogging literally get me away from the TV and all the bad habits that I want to get rid of in my life.

As I write this post, I know that the three WordPress blogs that I put down today will always be a best but I know that as I continue my journey in blogging and as I read more and more blogs, this best 3 might change from week to week, month to month, year to year.  So for this particular post, on today’s date, the blogs that I believe are the best have been included (there are so many honorable mentions that I just couldn’t list them all but I definitely following them).  To me these blogs represent a good cross-section of life and so much more.

So, here are the Best 3….WordPress Blogs:

1.  Bucket List Publications  http://lesleycarter.wordpress.com/

2. Adventures for a Life You Love http://adventuresforlife.wordpress.com/

3.  Make Something Mondays! http://makesomethingmondays.wordpress.com/

My first choice is a blog that everyone should check out.  It is a posy about bucket lists but so much more.  It is amazing the things that people have done and really let’s you dream and think about your own bucket list.  I am one of the people out there that has yet to create one but after reading this blog, I think I need to write my own.  This awesome blog is also now choosing lucky people to actually fulfill their some of their bucket list items…

The second blog is one that I really like…especially the title.  Just read it and I guarantee you will smile at the quotes and sayings – especially the post about “What Fo You Do”.  It is just a great idea.

My last choice is Make Something Mondays!  This blog is full of great and awesome do-it-yourself projects (and a few other topics).  It is a fun blog and just a nice break to read these (and realize you might be crafty after all and that it really isn’t that hard).

What blogs do you think should be included? Leave a comment and let me know!

There is a time in all our lives when we look at what are job is and wish we were doing something else.  At least that is how I have been feeling lately.  When I was young I always wanted to be a marine biologist.  It sounded so cool.  Until I got older and realized you needed maths and sciences.  I am not a math and sciences girl.  So that meant, time for a change.  Next I thought I would go into journalism.  Travel the world, report on all the news worthy items and make a name for myself as a great journalist.  Then I realized that type of career takes a long time (and to be honest, I think my parents were worried cause how would I ever be able to pay off my student loans).  So, I chose to study something I enjoyed…history.  However, unless you are going to get your doctorate, there really is no future in history.  At this time, I just took a job because frankly bills needed to be paid.  I started in administration but quickly realized that I needed to get out.  Eventually I found myself as a financial coordinator managing budgets in the millions.  From History to Finance…life is crazy sometimes.Yet the other day, I was having one of my ‘thinking’ moments and I thought about all the jobs that I wished I had.

So, here are the Best 3…Jobs I Wish I Had:

1.  Doctor

2.  Archaeologist

3.  Sports Agent

I know it seems funny to have doctor there but for me this was never a possibility – science and math.  Plus I have developed a huge respect for doctors who don’t just become doctors for the money but who are actually provided a service to people and countries that don’t have the type of health care systems/care that we have in the Western world.  Organizations like Doctors Without Borders are good examples of doctors using their skills to help those that are really in need.  If I was a doctor, I would be the type who would travel around to countries and offer whatever help I could.  I could really be doing good in the world.  That is the main reason why I have made it my first pick.

Since I like history, being an archaeologist is just a given.  Plus Indiana Jones made it look so fun.  I know in reality it isn’t quite the same as in the movies but it would be great to spend your life devoted to finding things from the past.  To uncover items or people who give you an insight into how life worked.  Imagine unearthing the  Terra Cotta Warriors or discovering another egyptian tomb.  Those are amazing discoveries but so are the small discoveries like pottery or utensils.  They all tell a story.  Such a great job!

Terracotta Army Pit 1 - in Xi'an, China

As for my final pick, a would want to be a sports agent.  It just sounds exciting to negotiate and sign sports superstars – plus I hear the money is not bad at all!  Plus I would love to get to all the games to support your player…that would be awesome.

Since I am one those people that have unfortunately spent a great deal of her life in front of a tv…commercials have become something that I have come to enjoy and hate at the same time. There are certain commercials that stay in my mind and that is usually because they are funny and there are those that are just annoying and are played way too much (those are usually the companies that have a great deal of money that they can throw on advertising time).  Commercials have become so integrated into tv (and now movie – which I was surprised when commercials started playing there) that we have companies willing to spend millions on only 30 seconds of air time during the Super Bowl.  Yes, I understand they can reach more people but even after I see the ad, it doesn’t make me want to go out and buy a car…so I don’t understand their methodology but hey I am not the one being paid the ‘big bucks’ to create and focus group these ads to everyday, average folks.

Getting ready to write this post, I thought back through the years on all the commercials that I have seen and liked and wanted to share them with all of you.  I hope you enjoy.

So, here are the Best 3….Commercials of All Time:

1.  The Force – Volkswagen Commercial (this one is so funny)

2.  Terry Tate – Reebok

3. The Man Your Man Could Smell LikeOld Spice

I have to say The Force – Volkswagen commercial is one of those commercials that just makes me laugh everytime I see it.  It is so cute and so funny.

As for the other picks, the Terry Tate one is great.  I would love to have him visit my office.  He is hilarious and I know there are a few people you would like to see this happen too in your own offices…

The Old Spice ad was just clever and I did appreciate that (finally) a good looking man with hardly any clothing on was featured in an ad (all those beer commercials are just annoying).

First let me start by saying that I first heard about this book (and then the trilogy) from a blog that my co-worker had read.  She had come across it by accident but the blogger had been so persuasive about reading Fifty Shades of Grey, that she ordered the book that night.  She is the co-worker that always tells me what I should be reading next…so when she mentioned this book and its genre/subject – erotic fiction, it made me kind of interested.  To be honest, I live in a sheltered world.  I am not that naive to realize this form of fiction is out there but I had never heard of an erotic fiction book about BDSM becoming a best seller (there could be others out there but I really don’t know about them).

For those that do not know what BDSM is, here is the definition/description:

BDSM is an erotic preference and a form of personal relationship involving the consensual use of restraint, intense sensory stimulation, and fantasy power role play. The acronym BDSM combines bondage and discipline (B&D or B/D), dominance and submission (D&S or D/s), and sadism and masochism (S&M or S/M).

(this information was taken from Wikipedia so I cannot guarantee the accuracy – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BDSM)

Before reading, I did a quick search to see what other were saying about the book and ran across a lot of positives responses, articles who dubbed it “mommy porn,” and negative feedback from those that do not believe that a woman should be submission and domineered by a man.  Taking all that into consideration, I bought the book and read it.  That is how we come to today’s post.

So, here are the Best 3…Reasons to Read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ by E.L. James:

1.  The main characters – Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele

2.  The email ‘banter’

3.  The romance/love /sex

Since I exposed myself to some of the critics out there on the internet, I was expecting Christian Grey to be crazy scary and super domineering.  That really wasn’t how he was portrayed.  Since you are only scratching the surface in this book, there is a lot more to Christian and the reason why he is how he is and why he enjoys what he enjoys.  Then you have Anastasia, who is a timid person, inexperienced and doesn’t have a huge amount of self-esteem.  Yet, together, their interactions (outside of the sex) and their emails makes them the perfect couple.  This books makes you want to take the next steps in their ‘relationship’ with them and to see how it will all end (since there is 2 other books).

Let me just say, I was not expecting to laugh in this book but the email ‘banter’ back and forth with Ana and Christian was just hilarious.  Seriously funny and just so unexpected in this type of book.  I am not going to spoil it, so if you have not read the book…go out and get it and read it and then you will understand what I am talking about.

The last reason is definitely the romance, the love that is starting (maybe on one side) and the sex – which there is a lot of.  The romance and love piece is there is the background but it is the sex that dominates.  I will not spoil it (because honestly people should be reading the book) but the sex scenes are graphic, interesting and opens your mind to what is out there.
